With Judo being a very popular sport of Japan it is of no supprise that many of the medals won in this sport are going to the Japanese, however we do have one medal in this sport very much dominated by its motherland.

British girl Kate Howey wins Silver
After a grewling round and very nearly clinching the Gold medal with an attempted arm lock in the dying seconds British girl Kate Howey walks away a proud silver medalist at the Womans 70kg division.

World champion Kosei Inoue of Japan beat Nicolas Gill of Canada on Thursday night with a powerful ippon to win the 100-kilogram class of judo Click here to veiw picture.

Australian Lauren Burns won the first gold medal in taekwondo as a full Olympic sport when she beat Cuban Urbia Melendez Rodriguez in the women's under-49 Flyweight Title

Sarah Stevenson put up a brave fight against Japans Yoriko Okamoto in the Womens 67kg division - at one stage Sarah was ahead with great high Axe kicks landing to the head of her opponent, yet the Japanese girl kept the pressure up and as Sarah watched the score board her opponent watched for target area's and won by one point.
